What makes Gatby a great electricity marketplace?
We stand out because all of our plans on our platform are simple and transparent. That means there are no tiered energy rates, no minimum usage requirements, or any other gimmicks on our platform.

Is Gatby an energy supplier?
No – Gatby is a digital platform that serves as a marketplace for customers to compare and choose available plans directly from providers who serve their area.

How do I know that I am getting the best rate?
Gatby: Energy Choice is a bias-free marketplace that pulls the best available plans directly from providers without withholding any information or choices from you. Our goal is to empower you with as much information as possible in a way that is easy to understand, so you can rest assured that you are making a well-educated decision every time you enroll.

What is the benefit of using your service over setting up everything myself?
Gatby can activate your electricity without you having to deal with long wait times or automated systems. Also, we are here to offer you a valuable and unbiased opinion and let you choose which service provider fits your needs.

Do I need to tell my old provider that I'm switching?
Nope! When you sign up for a new plan through Gatby, the new provider will let the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) know. ERCOT will also notify your old provider for you.

Who do I pay my bills to once I have enrolled in a plan?
Once enrolled, all bills will be managed and paid directly with the electricity provider. Gatby does not pay bills on your behalf, nor will we ever send you a bill.

Can I cancel my current electricity contract?
Yep! If you're locked into a contract with an electricity provider, you can still cancel it anytime you want. Consumer protection laws ensure you have this option. That said you may have to pay a fee for ending the contract early.
expand icon
Will I have to pay an early termination fee if I move?
Nope! If you're moving during your contract term and can provide proof of relocation (like a lease, mortgage statement, or utility bill for your new place), you won't have to pay an early termination fee.

If I am in a contract, do you pay the cancellation fee to get me out of the plan?
Gatby does not pay cancellation fees. If you are in a contract, we will send you an analysis comparing the plan that you are currently in with the lowest plan available for you. The analysis will let you know if it makes financial sense for you to pay the early termination fee to your current provider to switch to the new plan. The decision of whether or not to switch, as well as paying the fee, will be up to you.

What should I do if my contract is almost up?
Your provider is required to let you know at least 30 days before your contract ends. If you want to switch to a new provider, you can do it without penalty as long as it's no earlier than 14 days before the contract end date.

Should I sign up for a fixed-rate plan through Gatby?
Yes, we always recommend this. When you sign up for a fixed-rate plan, you are locked in a specific rate for the length of the contract term. This rate is based on what your provider thinks the market will behave like over the length of the contract term; and thus, you are protected from price fluctuations you could experience on a variable-rate plan due to unexpected market conditions (whether extreme weather, hurricanes, shortages of supply, etc).
