Your Questions Answered

It depends.

If you're switching providers at the same address

No — you don't need to cancel your existing contract.

Your new provider automatically takes over your service. Your current plan with your old provider will end.

Important: You can switch at any time, but if your current contract hasn't ended yet, your old provider may charge an early termination fee. To avoid this, choose a start date within 14 days of your current plan's end date.

If you're moving to a new address

Yes — you should contact your current provider to stop service at your old address.

Gatby sets up electricity at your new address, but we can't cancel service at the old one for you.

Simply search for your address and select a plan that works for you. We'll handle the rest!

Renters: Pick the day your lease starts

Homeowners: Pick your move-in date

Blocked dates

Some dates may not be available for your start date:

  • Sundays and some holidays
  • Dates too far in the future (usually more than 30–90 days, depending on the provider)
Yes! We know you're busy, so we'll handle the enrollment process for you.
We stand out because all of our plans on our platform are simple and transparent. That means there are no tiered energy rates, no minimum usage requirements, or any other gimmicks on our platform.
No – Gatby is a digital platform that serves as a marketplace for customers to compare and choose available plans directly from providers who serve their area.
Gatby: Energy Choice is a bias-free marketplace that pulls the best available plans directly from providers without withholding any information or choices from you. Our goal is to empower you with as much information as possible in a way that is easy to understand, so you can rest assured that you are making a well-educated decision every time you enroll.
Gatby can activate your electricity without you having to deal with long wait times or automated systems. Also, we are here to offer you a valuable and unbiased opinion and let you choose which service provider fits your needs.

Switching at the same address

No. You don't need to call or notify anyone. The switch happens automatically.

Moving to a new address

Yes. You should tell your old provider when you're moving so you don't keep getting billed after you leave.

Once enrolled, all bills will be managed and paid directly with the electricity provider. Gatby does not pay bills on your behalf, nor will we ever send you a bill.
Yep! If you're locked into a contract with an electricity provider, you can still cancel it anytime you want. Consumer protection laws ensure you have this option. That said you may have to pay a fee for ending the contract early.
Nope! If you're moving during your contract term and can provide proof of relocation (like a lease, mortgage statement, or utility bill for your new place), you won't have to pay an early termination fee.
Gatby does not pay cancellation fees. If you are in a contract, we will send you an analysis comparing the plan that you are currently in with the lowest plan available for you. The analysis will let you know if it makes financial sense for you to pay the early termination fee to your current provider to switch to the new plan. The decision of whether or not to switch, as well as paying the fee, will be up to you.
Your provider is required to let you know at least 30 days before your contract ends. If you want to switch to a new provider, you can do it without penalty as long as it's no earlier than 14 days before the contract end date.
Yes, we always recommend this. When you sign up for a fixed-rate plan, you are locked in a specific rate for the length of the contract term. This rate is based on what your provider thinks the market will behave like over the length of the contract term; and thus, you are protected from price fluctuations you could experience on a variable-rate plan due to unexpected market conditions (whether extreme weather, hurricanes, shortages of supply, etc).
